AICut has no timeline and nothing to drag. You pick a clip of yourself talking, and everything after that happens in conversation.
Three steps to a finished cut
- 1. Pick a video. Tap New and choose a talking-head clip from your photo library. Anything over 30 seconds works best. Transcription runs on your device and usually takes a minute or two even for long footage.
- 2. Talk to the director, or just tap a suggestion. Once it has listened, the director offers a card of ways to cut the video. Tap one, or type your own: "cut it down to 30 seconds", "move the third section to the front", "drop every stumble".
- 3. Tap "Cut it this way", then export. The editor makes the cut and you watch it in the preview. Keep talking to change it: "shorter, keep it under 45 seconds", "use the black-bar subtitle style". When you are happy, export and the finished video is saved to your photo library.
The built-in trial
AICut ships with one built-in trial account, so you can start editing without signing up for a model provider first: AICut trial does the text work (the director and the editor, on DeepSeek official). The allowance is 200,000 tokens per device, counted from the text requests on the device itself.
From measured usage, a 5-minute talking-head clip costs about 25,000 tokens and a one-hour clip about 60,000. So the trial covers roughly 8 five-minute clips or 3 one-hour clips. Revisions draw on the same allowance, so heavy rewriting uses it up faster.
During the trial your transcript text, up to 30 frame screenshots (10 overview frames plus up to 20 more the director asks for) and the messages you type (plus, if you add a reference video, its transcript and up to 10 of its screenshots) are sent to DeepSeek using our key, and to no other provider. The privacy policy has the details. The trial is a free convenience and the allowance may change or end at any time.
Getting your own model account
When the trial runs out, add your own model API key and carry on. Requests then go straight to the provider you chose, and you pay that provider directly. DeepSeek official is the easiest place to start: top up about 10 RMB and a one-hour video costs at most 0.5 RMB to cut.
Step-by-step sign-up guides for DeepSeek and Volcengine Ark (Doubao, which can see your keyframes) are on the home page: how to set up a model account. The guides are in Chinese. Once you have a key, open AICut, tap Models, add an account, pick the provider, paste the key, test the connection and save.
FAQ
The transcript came out in the wrong language
Transcription follows your system language by default. If your system is set to English but you are speaking Chinese, change it under Settings → Transcription language and transcribe again.
What happens when the trial runs out
The app tells you the allowance is used up. Tap Models, add an account and paste your own API key to keep going. Your existing projects are untouched.
Where do exported videos go
To your photo library, alongside the videos you shot yourself, ready to share anywhere.
Is my video uploaded anywhere
No. Video and audio stay on your device, and so does transcription. Only transcript text, up to 30 frame screenshots (10 overview frames plus up to 20 more the director asks for) and the messages you type are sent out; if you add a reference video, its transcript and up to 10 of its screenshots as well. See the privacy policy.
